This book is written in 1st person from the view of 16-year-old Katniss Everdeen. I noticed that she seems to be a tomboy because she is best friends with a boy and loves to hunt in the forbidden woods. I think this is a good way to tell the story so we can really understand how Katniss is feeling.
The book is told by Katniss Everdeen, the main charaacter in the novel. Through Katniss' voice, Suzanne Collins describes the setting in great detail and ties in some sarcasm and irony. It really puts you in the perspective of a teen who has had everything ripped from her hands.

I really enjoyed the fact that this book was written directly from the viewpoint of Katniss Everdeen, who goes through more tragedy than anyone really should. Also, that it was written in present tense so it never seemed that Katniss was looking back at herself many years later. It made me feel like anything could happen.
